Smells Like… Victory
When I made my St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage (not home-cured beef, just the brisket in the red juice from the grocery store), the ratio of meat to veggies was way too low. So I had all these veggies left over, which I froze, waiting for corned beef to get back in the store so I could get the ratio right. That took until last week.

Reminiscent of Lawn Darts
I wish I’d caught a better photo before the rain came, but this was a strange, striking image when I came out my back door to see it. Apparently these maple seed packets are called samaras. The way they all stuck face-down in this table reminded me of lawn darts, the way they always came down point-first. Which I suppose is what made them dangerous, but is definitely what made them fun.

Points of View
From the point of view of the viewpoint: Across the Mississippi River is downtown Minneapolis, where it looks like a building is going up.
From the point of view of the workers who built the bench: This is a viewpoint that needs a sturdy bench.
From the point of view of the lens: Look at this place from which one might take in the view.
From the point of view of the photographer on the warm, sunny day when the photo was taken: This would be a nice place to sit for a while and take in the view.
From the point of view of the writer on the rainy day when this is being written: Why didn’t I sit and take in the view on that warm, sunny day?

First Sighting!
I’ve been checking out the coupled up geese for weeks, waiting for my first gosling sighting, and this week it finally happened. Look how cute they are!

Lecture 12: The Reckoning of Our Wounds
The twelfth lecture consists of two parts, Ars Machina and Auto-da-Fé. In the first, the Machine contemplates the purposes and results of a year’s worth of Machines, and in the second, the Operator meditates on his own faith—and doubt—in art.
