Reminiscent of Lawn Darts
I wish I’d caught a better photo before the rain came, but this was a strange, striking image when I came out my back door to see it. Apparently these maple seed packets are called samaras. The way they all stuck face-down in this table reminded me of lawn darts, the way they always came down point-first. Which I suppose is what made them dangerous, but is definitely what made them fun.
The samaras don’t come down so insistently, which is part of why they’re fun. What you can’t see in this photo is that they were all fluttering in the wind, catching the light. Their tasks unfinished, but in no rush to get on with it.
