Oh L’Amour
I’ve been letting this blog slide.
I’m working on a significantly longer term project than the monthly lectures, and it has left me adrift at times. Lots of times. I’m hoping I just caught a breeze, though.
I can be told numerous times that something is interesting and fun and that I would really enjoy it and still—without rejecting the suggestion outright—find myself reluctant to take the advice. (Incidentally, I’ve seen this happen numerous times with Moby Dick.)
Which is all to say that I finally did some erasures (I’d call it ‘erasure poetry,’ but for my addiction to grammatical or mostly grammatical sentences [I don’t feel I’ve earned the word ‘poetry’]), and not only found it interesting and fun and enjoyable, but also—I think—relevant to this long-term project. So, my advice to you is to read Moby Dick and find a book you don’t mind marking up and make some erasure poetry in it.
